If you had only one pedal what would it be?

Hi. I own a SWP (steel without pedal) guitar and am interested in adding a pedal that will give me a bit more sustain. This gives you an idea of what I'm talking about:

Most postings here recommend a volume pedal, but does that add sustain?

If its a plain string try changing to a wound string. I have had problems with the heavier plain strings sounding dead. Pole pieces can be an issue also. If you adjust them make sure you have a screwdriver that fits well, and be gentle as I have seem more than a few a these with the screw slot buste...

Dead string

A few months ago I bought a 1960-or-so National lap off a fellow on eBay. I knew it needed work, just from looking at the photos. (The item is listed at http://tinyurl.com/3qegpeg ) Now I find it's one dead string: the 4th. Can anyone tell me what that means? Does it mean the tuner is kerfloohy, or ...

Save your money and get an old Supro or Ohau with some character and tone. What is it about the Oahu that makes it better than, say, a Gretsch? What kind of pots did they have that give them the better sound? Does anyone know? It would probably help my situation if I could swap the pots out of my A...

Gretsch G5700 vs Agile

I own an Agile Labradoodle (believe it or not, that's the name of the thing) from Rondo Music. Recently, the local pawn shop came into possession of a nice Gretsch G5700 and I'm thinking of buying the Gretsch and selling the Agile. Can anyone advise me on whether that's a fair trade? Somewhere I rea...

Bach and the lap steel guitar

I'm dying to get some J.S. Bach cranked up on the 6-stringer but tabs of the old guy are hard to come by. If you have tabs of anything by Bach would you mind posting links here? Or, if you're selling, let us know. Here's a great video of Bouree played by Doug Livingston: http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Picks, picks and more picks

Well, I'm the first one to admit I think I have skinny fingers. How else to explain why the finger picks keep falling off??

Does anyone have advice on how to keep the darn things on? Or, if you'v figured out a solution, like Scotch tape or something please let me know.

Thanks.
