by the way ,iestyn, here is a peek at a 6 that my lovely wife loves lookin at. thank God for a patient life partener who enjoys my work .i call this 'BLUE BOY' but she calls it CRYSTAL WATERS . whatever the name , the fun's the same ! great sounds abound! if there are other questions i can help with...

instead of better , different may be a word to use because the magnificent way these instruments convey
feelings as music .
the e-flat lower is not too hard to do if you tune
the change first as a place to pull up from.

hi guys! had to chime in on this - though slightly over to the side of topic. what is often overlooked is the fact that PEOPLE were often barroom instruments,etc.,until meeting God. and what do we say to the verse in psalms stating that God can be praised on an "INSTRUMENT OF 10 STRINGS"! ...

you might also try a bar of your favorite hand soap - irish spring works well.just close it up inside the case and leave it in there as long as it takes . you can leave it in there indefinitely if you want.wow - with all this good advice, you should come out smelling like a rose!or maybe something e...

maybe do the research in reverse- take a complete and "loaded" steel about to be redone (refurbished?) play it - record it - whatever to get a baseline , then disassemble it gradually in desired steps using the very same recording steps and equipment for each step until the very last stage...
